Again I had no intention of looking for a saxophone. I just happened to be looking in the local Craigslist, and happened to see a vintage horn that I believed was good deal for what it was. In neither case was I actively looking for a saxophone. In 2011 the pattern repeated itself, when a very nice 1957, JK-stencilled Jubilee tenor-Toneking Series III- that I also saw on Craigslist, found its way into my studio. In 2010 a minty Hohner tenor from 1961 came to live with me after I found it on Craigslist. This has been the pattern for the past 2 years. Ever year as the dreary West Coast rains of winter begin to fade into spring, something odd seems to happen: A vintage saxophone ends up finding a new home with me.
